I have been focused on traveling to cities all over the United States. While most people will focus on seeing larger cities, like New York and Los Angeles, I am more interested in seeing the parts that are not as celebrated. For this reason, I jumped at the opportunity to visit Hillsboro, Oregon, which is located in Washington County. I originally planned to visit Portland, but an online friend of me lives in Hillsboro, so I decided to go there instead.
The first thing I had to decide when I first started planning the trip was when I want to go. Ideally, I would like to head there around May when all of the farmer’s markets in the area are most popular. I love going to those and I am sure that it will be much different than the ones I typically go to seeing as I live on the other side of the country.
Then again, going in the summer and having the opportunity to view the Oregon International Air Show. Knowing that the proceeds from the show are given to charity makes it more exciting for me. I am always trying to give back, so participating in activities that will ultimately help others is wonderful to me.
I am not sure what the food scene in Hillsboro is like, so I will definitely have to do some digging. I am what most would call a foodie and the thought of heading into a food wasteland is a real possibility. I will have to go to Yelp and a few other sites to get reviews for local places. At least if the food is not very memorable it will be good. Once I do a little more research I should be ready to make some solid plans for my trip.
